How the countdown timer works

Instead of counting ticks, the timer records the exact finish time when you press Start and compares it with your device clock on every update. Browsers slow down timers in inactive tabs, so a tick-based countdown drifts; comparing timestamps keeps the remaining time correct when you return to the tab.

Common uses

• Focus sessions and Pomodoro-style work blocks.
• Cooking, workouts, and interval training.
• Timed exams, presentations, and speaking slots.
• Counting down to a deadline up to 365 days away.

Start, pause, resume, restart and reset

Pause freezes the remaining time and Resume continues from that exact point. Restart runs the same duration again from the beginning, Reset returns to your entered values, and Clear empties every field.
