Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is read and re-encoded entirely in your browser, so it never leaves your device.
Which formats can I compress?
JPG/JPEG, PNG, and WebP. You can also convert the output to JPG or WebP, which often gives the biggest savings.
Why did my file not get smaller?
Some images are already compressed as far as the format allows. In that case we say so honestly and give you your original file instead of a bigger one.
Does PNG output use the quality slider?
PNG is lossless, so the slider has little or no effect. For real savings on photos, choose JPG or WebP.
